LIMERICK ladies football captain Roisín Ambrose said it was “a great relief” to get a one point win over Fermanagh to book her team’s place in the All-Ireland final on Sunday, August 13.
The game struggled to get any fluency in the first half with both sides struggling to get a foothold in the well contested semi-final.
Ambrose continued by saying “It was such a tough game. Fermanagh really put it up to us. It was so tight right to the very end, winning by only that one point and we felt every bit of that pressure.”
Limerick have struggled to win semi-finals in recent years making this win even more special for the group. Super sub Caoimhe McGrath got Limerick right back in the game in the second-half kicking five crucial frees.
Roisín alluded to the fact that her team struggled to convert frees to scores in the opening half. “Fair play to Caoimhe for coming on and stepping up to kick over those frees. She is only 19, so very young and she just put those over the bar like a professional. It was unreal.”
Limerick now face Down in the final of the TG4 All-Ireland junior ladies football final at Croke Park on August 13.
