LIMERICK senior footballers will play Wicklow, Carlow and Longford in the Tailteann Cup after the draw was made for the competition this Tuesday afternoon.
Mark Fitzgerald's side are in the secondary competition due to relegation from Division 2 of the Allianz Football League and after being beaten by Clare in the Munster SFC semi-final. A place in the Munster Final would have seen them compete in the Sam Maguire competition.
Limerick will be firm favourites to come out of Group 3 against two teams (Carlow and Longford) that will be competing in Division 4 of the league next year. Wicklow earned promotion from Division 4.
Fixtures for the Tailteann Cup are set to be finalised later in the week but Limerick will play Longford on May 13/14 at home, Carlow away, May 20/21 and at a neutral venue against Wicklow on June 3/4.
