UL are into the Sigerson Cup semi-final following a 1-15 to 2-10 victory after extra time over holders the University of Galway in Dangan.

Two frees in extra time to UG's one was enough to see the Declan Brouder's managed UL into the last four and earn a bit of revenge for the defeat to the same opposition in the 2022 final. Clare's Ciaran Downes got the insurance point late on.

The University of Galway made all the running early on with goals from Mark McInerney and Ger Davoren but UL slowly made their way back into the game.

Four frees from the boot of Paul Keaney settled the nerves for UL. Further efforts from Darragh Cashman and Mark Lenahan saw the score at 2-3 to 0-6 in the Galway college's favour.

Matthew Tierney and Paul Kelly frees stretched that advantage to five points on the resumption but UL rattled off five on the bounce to level the game for the first time.

Then Paul Walsh forced a turnover from a UG kick-out and then proceeded to lob Conor Carroll from the edge of the D for the UL goal.

Keaney's seventh of the game looked to have won it for UL only for Tierney and Sean Kelly to force extra time with late UG scores.

It was a point apiece in the first period of extra time but McMahon got the all important one in the second period and another from play by Ciaran Downes saw UL home to victory.

Scorers - UL: Paul Keaney 0-7 (7 frees), Paul Walsh 1-1, Darragh Cashman, Ciaran Downes and Emmet McMahon (2 frees) 0-2 each, Mark Lenahan 0-1.

Scorers - UG: Matthew Tierney 0-5 (5 frees), Ger Davoren 1-1 Mark McInerney 1-0, , Paul Kelly 0-3 (3 frees), Sean Kelly 0-1.
