FAMILIES were treated to a lively mix of agriculture, entertainment, and community showcases at the AMCS Limerick Show.
From farm animals to fashion, there was something for every age and interest. Children flocked to the pet farm where ducks drew laughter as they glided down a slide, while a mischievous pig roamed freely through the kids’ area. Shy goats kept onlookers amused as they hesitated to leave the safety of their trailer, while some attendees enjoyed observing blacksmithing.
Adding a touch of magic, Disney favourites Minnie and Mickey Mouse made an appearance alongside the hugely popular Labubu character, while families hopped aboard a train ride that circled the grounds. A mobile sensory room, complete with a ball pit and bean bags was enjoyed by children of all abilities.
There was also a fashion flourish to proceedings, as Mayor of Limerick, John Moran took to the catwalk accompanied by his red setter Henri, to warm applause from the crowd.

The traditional farming elements were not forgotten, with gleaming tractors and livestock competitions alongside family entertainment. The dog show, a highlight of the day, drew record numbers.
Deirdre Cusack, who has been involved with the Show for many years, said the turnout for the dog show was fantastic. “We have a record number of entries this year and we're delighted that everybody has come out to support us,” she said. “
Meanwhile, the Limerick branch of Macra na Feirme debuted a novel new attraction — the Human Fruit Machine.
Mary O’Reilly, county chair of Limerick Macra, explained how it worked, saying: “Basically, the child has to tap the button and then we kind of do a little roll and we keep going and then once we stop we have to have three of the same fruit in a row for them to win a prize.”
“It keeps them coming back because if they don't get it the first time they want to try again. It's actually quite good for getting the kids in and engaging and then it helps get our name out there.”
Irish Rail also marked its first ever appearance at the Show. Conor Doolin, apprentice development executive, said he felt proud and privileged to be at Limerick Show. “We've been flat out all day. It's amazing, fair play to the apprentices themselves. They're just putting on a fantastic show but the engagement from the kids and the parents bringing them in it's amazing.”
Mr Doolin added that they showed the children in attendance what a socket was, how to cut the cables and how to wire a plug in a “safe and controlled environment” to give them a feel for what a trade is.
