THE LOCAL show season kicks off this weekend with the Newcastle West Agricultural Show taking place this Sunday, June 22.
It keeps its June date after last year’s successful show following a cancellation in July 2023 after heavy rain.

Thankfully the weather forecast for this weekend is dry and sunny with only a chance of an odd shower. The committee have worked hard on this year's show, to ensure a greater variety of entertainment, with something for every age.
“This year we are delighted to introduce a sacred meadow - wellness tent where you will have the opportunity to experience everything from sound baths, to yoga, zumba class, cacao ceremony, and a drumming session, all for free.
“Also new this year is the arts and crafts tent, showcasing a variety of local talent and crafts.”
The committee expect the clubs and societies tent to be very popular, and Duffy's are bringing some new and exciting children's rides.
There's also a truck show, cattle show, and poultry competition, and of course a great variety of show jumping classes, including the Red Mills Champion of Champions class.
The tractor balancing competition is expected to be very popular with the young, and not so young of the local area, with the highlight being the competition between the main dealers.
All the popular attractions are back again this year - dog show, junior tractor run, and the petting zoo.
There is also have a musical line-up, starting at 12pm, including both individual artists and a band, situated close to the food village and bar.
Yet another attraction is the inaugural Newcastle West Vintage Show, held in conjunction with Newcastle West Show. This is the first event organised by the newly formed vintage club. It was only formed on June 5!
All vehicles and static displays are welcome to attend, with a minimum age of 25 years required. There is no entrance fee for exhibitors but vehicle and display owners will receive a souvenir badge.
