Agri company prosecuted over death of Limerick farmer

The matter was before Limerick Criminal Circuit Court on Monday

A LEADING Irish agricultural company is being prosecuted by the State in relation to the death of a county Limerick farmer.

Dairymaster Unlimited Company, of Causeway, Co Kerry, was listed for mention before Judge Colin Daly at Limerick Criminal Circuit Court this Monday.

When the matter was called by the registrar, prosecuting barrister Lily Buckley, instructed by State solicitor Brendan Gill, said it is a Health and Safety prosecution where there is a “fatality”.

The deceased - Danny Mullins, aged 77, of Glenacurrane, Anglesboro - died on his farm after an incident involving a gate on July 30, 2020.

Ms Buckley made an application for the matter to be adjourned.

“The road map should be clearer (on the next date),” said Ms Buckley.

Judge Daly acceded to the request. 

The case was put back to February 17 at Limerick Criminal Circuit Court.
