COMMUNITIES across Limerick are set to benefit from improved connectivity following the approval of the purchase of land for the Foynes to Limerick road.
Mayor of Limerick, John Moran has signed a Mayoral Order for the purchase of land to deliver the road which will provide a motorway upgrade from Rathkeale to Attyflin.
He commented: “As Mayor of Limerick, I am pleased to confirm the signing of a number of new Mayoral Orders this week that each mark real steps forward for communities across the city and county in the areas of housing, tourism and transport.”
“This set of orders are related to the advancement of the Shannon Estuary growth triangle and will help to advance the road beyond Adare, all the way to Foynes.”

Mayor Moran continued: “The project is 35km in length, and will connect the core port of Foynes to the motorway network near Limerick.”
“I want to thank the team within the Transport Directorate in Limerick City and County Council for their continued focus on delivery.”
