Unique forest festival offers something for all the family

Into the woods at Baggot Estate in Ballinacura

THE Limerick Forest Festival featuring a packed schedule of activities ranging from nature walks and talks, tree identification, forest bathing, yoga and activities for children such as a nature scavenger hunt and face painting will be held this weekend.

To celebrate National Tree Week as part of the URBACT BiodiverCity project, the event will take place on Sunday, March 9 in Baggot Estate in Ballinacura.

Attendees will have the opportunity to learn more about the fascinating variety of bat species that live in our urban forests and enjoy making their own spring wreaths and floral arrangements as part of the wreath-crafting workshop.

Limited free tree whips, supplied by the Tree Council of Ireland will be available on the day. Booking is essential on Eventbrite due to limited spaces.

National Tree Week is Ireland’s largest annual celebration of trees and forests supported by Coillte.
