Wheelbarrow applies to Limerick Council to be added to Presidential ticket

Barry Wheely-Row promises 'wheel change' if he is elected to Áras an Uachtaráin

Wheelbarrow applies to Limerick Council to be added to Presidential ticket

Limerick City and County Council received a request for a nomination from somebody purporting to be a wheelbarrow!

A PERSON purporting to be a wheelbarrow made a bid to get Limerick councillors to back their bid for the Presidency.

Barry Wheely-Row wrote to council bosses, declaring they are the garden tool, and urged members to "back the barrow for wheel change".

It’s understood the person lives in Kerry.

Their letter reads: “In times of such global political unrest and uncertainty, what this country needs is a President with a handle on the right and a handle on the left, someone to represent us on the international stage with both statesmanship and decorum, and whose every act is revolutionary by nature.

“I don’t believe that any other candidate could better exemplify these noble qualities than a wheelbarrow and I hope that Limerick Council will join me in endorsing my candidacy and nominate me to run in the upcoming election. It’s past time to bring the craic back, and to back the barrow, for wheel change,” the letter adds.

“With your support, Ireland can be a place that world leaders will look upon with wonder, awe and potential bemusement, and I will lead us in silence through this profound unfolding with the quiet dignity befitting of my future office.”

Mr Wheely-Row did actually receive a response from Limerick City and County Council acknowledging the communication.

It’s unclear whether there was any further correspondence with the local authority not returning a request for comment.

But what is known is that the Mr Wheely-Row did not make a presentation to local councillors last week seeking a formal nomination.
