The Empathy School Awards were launched at a virtual event
A LIMERICK-based company has launched a new national awards scheme to recognise kindness and empathy.
Narrative4, which based in O’Connell Street in the city centre, aims to recognise and celebrate post-primary schools which promote these three qualities among students and staff.
The Empathy School Awards, which were launched at a virtual event, follows the format of having three levels of recognition for schools: gold, silver and bronze.
In order to secure the top standard, at least 10 teachers will need to be trained in the firm’s empathy programme which aims to foster connection, empathy and encourage positive relationships in the classroom.
One of the people backing the scheme is Limerick Leader columnist Louise Cantillon who said: “Empathy education cultivates vital life skills in young people. Empathy skills are so important for students to learn and practice. I'm delighted to be an ambassador for the Awards and I look forward to meeting the mazing young people and teachers involved.”
