THE University of Limerick’s student union — UL Student Life — has won gold for Best TikTok at this year’s Sockie Awards, Ireland’s premier social media awards.
The win marks back-to-back victories for UL Student Life, having secured Best Instagram at the 2024 ceremony.
Held in Dublin last Thursday, the Sockies recognise excellence in social media campaigns and strategies by brands, agencies, NGOs, public bodies, and SMEs across Ireland.
UL Student Life was recognised for its creative, authentic use of TikTok to connect with and represent the University of Limerick’s vibrant student community.

“We’re absolutely thrilled to win Gold for Best TikTok,” said Nicole Roche, Digital Marketing Coordinator at UL Student Life. “Our aim has always been to give students a platform that’s fun, relatable, and empowering - and TikTok has been an incredible space for that.”
UL Student Life’s approach is built on a peer-to-peer content model, with students creating content for and with their peers. The organisation’s Creative Crew, a student-led media team, plays a key role in producing content that is fresh, humorous, and genuinely reflective of student life on campus.
The award reinforces UL Student Life’s position as a leader in student communications, and a standout digital voice within Ireland’s higher education landscape.
