RIP: Limerick deaths and funeral details, Friday, January 30

The death has occurred of Ellen Hayes (née Behan)

Of Shanagolden

She passed away peacefully at her home, on the January 29, surrounded by her heartbroken husband and children.

Predeceased by her parents Edward and Jenny and her brothers Seanie, Pats, JJ and Eamon.

Ellen will be sadly missed by her loving husband Denny, her son Denis, daughters Audrey, Jane, Elaine, Deirdre and Linda, her sister Margaret and brothers Tim, Frank, George and Declan. Her beloved grandchildren, sons-in-law, daughters-in-law, nephews, nieces, relatives and wide circle of friends.

May her gentle soul rest in peace

Reposing at Madigan's Funeral Home, Shanagolden, V94 W8DY on Saturday, January 31, from 5pm to 8pm.

Requiem Mass Sunday, February 1 in Shanagolden Church at 1pm, followed by burial afterwards in local cemetery.

House private please. Donations, if desired, to Milford Hospice.

The death has occurred of Mary Markham (née Ahern)

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Mary Markham, Crawley, West Sussex, Britain and formerly of Assumpta Park, Newcastle West. On December 30, 2025.

Predeceased by her husband John, parents Patrick and Margaret and brothers Tony, Gerard and Joe.

Mary will be sadly missed by her daughters Janet and Susan, sons John and Wayne, son-in-law Spencer, John's partner Debbie, grandchildren, brothers Johnny, Pat, Martin and Desmond, sisters Margaret and Ann, brother-in-law, sisters-in-law, nephews, nieces, relatives, neighbours and friends.

May her kind and gentle soul rest in eternal peace.

A service of remembrance will take place in Crawley on Thursday, February 5, 2026 at 11.30am.

Afterwards, a memorial mass for Mary will take place on Friday, February 20, 2026 at 7.30pm in the Church Of The Immaculate Conception, Newcastle West.

The death has occurred of Mary Reidy (née O'Loughlin)

Of Shankill, Dublin and formerly Kilteely

Peacefully at home in the loving care of her family .

Predeceased by her parents James and Mary O’Loughlin and her brothers Andrew and Michael.

Beloved wife of David and devoted mother to Carolanne, Brian and Rachel.

Sadly missed and remembered with love by her husband and children, sister Colette and brothers James and Brendan, her grandchildren, Ethan, Mary, Cian, Ben, Matthew, Paddy. Lily and Jack, sons-in-law, Robin and Colm, daughter-in-law Bernie, her sisters in law and brothers in law, nieces, nephews, extended family, neighbours and friends.

May she rest in peace.

Funeral Mass on Tuesday February 3, at 11am in St Anne's Church, Shankill followed by burial in Shanganagh Cemetery.

Former member, Monaleen/Castletroy Bridge Club.

Passed away peacefully, at Milford Care Centre, in the presence of her loving family, on January 29, 2026

Beloved wife of the late Patrick and dearest mother of Martin, Alyson, Caroline, Ivan and Suzanne. Sadly missed by her loving children, daughters-in-law, sons-in-law, her ten adored grandchildren, sisters Mary and Rose, brother John, sister-in-law, brothers-in-law, nieces, nephews, relatives and friends

Reposing at Milford Care Centre Mortuary on Sunday, February 1 from 5pm to 6:30pm. Funeral arriving at Our Lady help of Christians Church, Milford on Monday, February 2 for requiem Mass at 11:30am. A private cremation will be held on Tuesday February 3.

The death has occurred of Colin (aka Giz) O'Shaughnessy

Of Rhebogue Meadows and late of Old Park Road, Corbally

Unexpectedly but peacefully, following an ongoing illness, at home, on January 28, 2026.

Sadly missed by his heartbroken family, parents Tommy and Sheila, sister Jennifer, brother-in-law Tom, nephew Rúan, niece Bronagh, aunts, uncles, cousins and extended family.

Colin’s family would sincerely like to thank his many close friends for being such a big part of his life.

Rest in peace

A private cremation service will take place on Monday, February 2, at Shannon Crematorium, for invited family and friends.

No flowers please, in lieu please share a random act of kindness in Colin’s memory.

House private please.
