Deaths in Limerick: Thursday March 23

The death has occurred of Hugh Waters, Sheelin Road, Caherdavin, Limerick and formerly Drumkeeran, Co. Leitrim.

Peacefully, at St Camillus Hospital, aged 90 years.

Predeceased by his brothers Paddy and Mick. Deeply regretted by his loving sister Mary Ryan. Much loved uncle of Christy, Marie, Anne, Patricia and Joan. Deeply regretted by his extended family, cousins and friends.

Funeral arriving at St Camillus Hospital Chapel on Tuesday, 4th April, for Requiem Mass at 11am followed by Cremation Service at Shannon Crematorium at 1pm.

The death has occurred of Carmel O'Farrell, Old Park Road, Corbally, Limerick; former teacher of History & French, Crescent College & Comprehensive, Limerick.

Carmel passed away peacefully, after a long illness, bravely borne, in the exceptional care of Dr. Thamir Mahgoub and his team at University Hospital Limerick.

Pre-deceased by her parents Martin & Catherine. Dearly loved sister of Joseph, Jim, Teresa, Martin & Catherine. Sadly missed by her sisters-in-law Barbara Martin, Jacinta Doyle & Ailish O’Farrell, brother-in-law Eamonn Griffin and by Jim Dalton. Loving aunt to Sarah, Emma, Mark, Laura, Eoghan, Edward, James & Anna and partners Krish, Katie & Shayari. Sadly missed by her relatives, neighbours and dear friends.

May Carmel rest in peace.

Reposing at Griffin’s Funeral Home, John’s Gate on Tuesday, 4th April, from 5pm to 6:30pm. Carmel’s funeral cortège will pass the family home (10:40am approx..) on Wednesday 5th April to arrive at St. Mary’s Church, Athlunkard Street, for Requiem Mass at 11am, streamed live here Further arrangements to follow.

The death has occurred of Nora Lynch (née Mulcahy), Abbeycourt, Rathkeale, Limerick.

Peacefully, at St. Catherine's Nursing Home Newcastlewest. Predeceased by her son Daniel. Beloved wife of her heartbroken husband Denis, adored mother of her daughters Geraldine, Denise, Marian, sons Michael and Andrew. Sadly missed and lovingly remembered by her family, grandchildren, sister Peg, brother Seamus, sons-in-law Declan and Paul, daughter-in-law Karolina, extended family and friends.

May her gentle soul rest in peace.

Reposing at Magner's Funeral Home, Rathkeale, on Monday evening from 6-7.30p.m. Requiem Mass on Tuesday at 11.00a.m in St. Mary's Church Rathkeale. Burial afterwards in St. Joseph's Cemetery.

The death has occurred of Shane Harnett, New Jersey and formerly of Bothar Bui, Newcastle West, Limerick.

Shane Harnett passed away on Monday, March 27, 2023 at Palisades Medical Center in North Bergen, New Jersey, USA, after a short illness. He was forty-nine years old.

Shane lived in Bothar Bui, Newcastle West until 1987 when, along with his family, emigrated to New Jersey in the US. Shane was a much loved and respected teacher at Union City High School NJ, where he taught Business Computing.

Shane is predeceased by his father Thomas Harnett, formerly of Tournafulla. Shane is survived by his mother Mary Harnett, siblings Richard Harnett, Mark Harnett and Karen Cabri. Along with his nieces Ashley, Veronica and Molly, his nephew Liam, great-niece Audrina and his four-legged furry pal Teddy along with his extended family in Ireland.

Shane will be reposing at Gleason's funeral home in Somerset County, New Jersey, on Sunday, April 2, 2023 from 5 pm to 9 pm US time (12 pm to 4 pm Irish time).

Requiem Mass will be held at 3pm (Irish time) on Monday April 3, 2023 at Mary Mother of God Church, Hillsborough, NJ.

A memorial service will be held in Newcastle West in the coming weeks, date and time to follow.
