UPDATE: Gardai hunt driver who crashed into Limerick sex shop

Videos and photos of the unusual incident have been widely shared on social media

GARDAI in Limerick are searching for the driver of a high-end jeep which crashed into a sex shop in the city.

The unusual road traffic incident occurred on Friday evening at Love Angels, Mungret Street. The building was badly damaged due to the force of the collision.

The store, which it is understood had just closed its doors for the night, boasts “a wide range of sex toys, lingerie, and sex essentials”.

Following a media query from Limerick Live, a garda spokesperson confirmed gardaí attended the scene following a report of a single-vehicle road traffic collision at Mungret Street, Limerick, that occurred on Friday, September 11.

“The collision, in which a car struck a premises, occurred at approximately 7pm.

“On arrival of gardaí, the driver of the car had left the scene. Investigations are ongoing,” said the garda spokesperson.

Videos and photos, which have been widely shared on social media, show extensive damage caused to the outside of the building and to the vehicle. Bricks are scattered on a lane beside the store.

The shopfront has since been boarded up. John Walsh Property Maintenance shared a video on their Instagram page of the shop being secured following an emergency out-of-hours call.

While there were reports online that some of the store's merchandise was taken after the front wall was broken down and items fell onto the street, there are no reports of thefts or a burglary at this time.
