13 bench warrants were also issued on defendants who did not appear for their scheduled hearings before Judge Patricia Harney

MAJOR IT issues have led to the adjournment of several cases that were due to be heard before Limerick District Court.

This Tuesday, Judge Patricia Harney informed those present in courtroom 6 at Mulgrave Street, shortly before proceedings got underway, that staff were experiencing problems with the video-link service.

When in custody, defendants, depending on the circumstance, have the option of appearing before the courts by being physically produced from prison or appearing via video-link from the prison itself for their hearings.

A number of cases were listed to be heard at Limerick District Court through the video-link option this Tuesday. However, due to the ongoing IT issues, eight defendants currently in custody and who were awaiting hearings had their matters adjourned due to this. All cases were moved to dates within the next two weeks.

Also in Limerick District Court, 13 bench warrants were issued on defendants who did not appear for their scheduled hearings before Judge Patricia Harney.
