ARSONISTS managed to get their hands on petrol to make a firebomb despite many service stations in Limerick being without fuel over the weekend.

Limerick Live has learned it was thrown in an attempt to torch the property on the southside of the city in the early hours of Sunday morning.

Following a media query, a garda spokesperson confirmed they received a report of an incident of criminal damage by fire. They said it occurred in the Ballinacurra Weston area of Limerick city at approximately 4am on Sunday, April 12.

“No injuries have been reported at this time. Investigations are ongoing,” said a garda spokesperson.

The device used by the perpetrators is believed to be a petrol bomb. It is understood that the house was occupied at the time but that minimal damage to the house was caused from the fire attack. Limerick Fire and Rescue Service were not asked to respond.
