"He had parked it around 8pm, and about an hour and a half later, he discovered it was gone. The car has since been recovered."

The crime prevention officer issue the following advice to prevent car thefts: Always lock your car and take your keys with you, even if you’re just stepping away for a short time.
Park in well-lit, secure areas whenever possible and ever leave spare keys inside the vehicle, and consider using a steering wheel lock or other visible deterrents.
Always, report suspicious activity immediately to your local Garda station.
Sgt O'Halloran discussed the second theft, saying:
"This incident happened on Thursday, the 9th of October, between 11am and 3pm in the Chapel Hill area of Castleconnell."
"A man in his eighties reported that a set of keys, including his car key, was stolen from his vehicle. Thankfully, he noticed the theft in time and was able to have all the locks and keys changed before any further incident occurred."
She added that Gardai in Castleconnell are investigating and would like to hear from anyone who may have seen suspicious activity or individuals in the area on October 9. They can be contacted on 061 377105.
Sgt O'Halloran concluded: "We want to remind everyone to always lock your vehicle, even if you’re only leaving it for a few minutes. Don’t leave valuables, handbags, wallets, or keys visible inside your car. It only takes a few seconds for an opportunistic thief to strike."
