Man dies following suspected assault at North Cork pub

GARDAI are investigating after a firearm was discharged in the city, Limerick Live has learned.

It is believed that at least one man was shot and taken to hospital for injuries which are understood to be non-life threatening.

A garda spokesperson confirmed gardai received a report of an alleged discharge of a firearm at a premises on Childers Road, Limerick on Wednesday, September 3.

“No injuries have been reported at this time,” said a garda spokesperson.

It is believed that a father and son attended the location to meet individuals in an attempt to resolve a dispute between two separate parties.

There are unconfirmed reports that the father and son were wearing bulletproof vests at the time. It is thought that at least one of these men, aged in his 20s, received gunshot wounds and was hospitalised.

There are reports of a number of ambulances and paramedic vehicles in the Childers Road area of the city around 2.30pm on Wednesday. 

A garda spokesperson said: “Enquiries are ongoing.”
