A SIMMERING Traveller feud in Kilmallock has erupted again after shots were fired at a house in Kilmallock over the weekend.

The gun attack is the latest incident that has included a car being rammed off the road and three car-loads of men carrying weapons, including slash hooks, being intercepted by gardai in the town in May.

A garda spokesperson said the shooting incident occurred in the early hours of Sunday morning.

“Gardaí have received a report where a firearm was allegedly discharged in the Charleville Road area of Kilmallock, County Limerick on Sunday, July 6, 2025 around midnight.

“Enquiries are ongoing,” said a garda spokesperson.

No injuries have been reported. It is believed a number of shots were fired at the house which has a number of caravans in the vicinity.

Limerick Live understands that a family member connected to the targeted house got married in preceding days.

Gardai attached to the Regional Armed Support Unit were immediately deployed to the Kilmallock area. There was also an increased uniformed and plain clothes garda presence in and around Kilmallock on Sunday.

There have been a number of so-called Traveller “call-out” videos since the gun attack. Rival family members offer to fight each other and exchange insults on social media.

One man refers to named individuals as “dead men walking” and says “get your funerals organised”.

“Tensions are high. Gardai were stopping and searching vehicles on the main street on Sunday night,” one local told Limerick Live.

Anybody who was in the Charleville Road area of Kilmallock in the early hours of Sunday morning and may have seen cars being driven erratically or in a suspicious manner are asked to contact Bruff garda station on 061 382940 in complete confidentiality.
