Limerick man in his 30s loses money to Revenue scam

“EXTREME caution” is being urged by gardaí following a Revenue scam which caused a man in Limerick to suffer financial loss.

A man in his 30s in Newcastle West received a link from who he thought was from Revenue. Upon clicking the link and following instructions, he subsequently suffered a financial loss. 

“I would urge each and every individual to be extremely cautious around suspicious texts, calls and emails,” said Sergeant Michelle O’Halloran, crime prevention officer, Henry St garda station.

“Ensure never to provide any personal data, including PPS numbers, bank account details, PIN numbers or passwords.

“If you have been a victim of any fraud or scam, change your passwords and PIN codes, contact your financial institution immediately and report the matter to gardaí.”
