A MAN who was arrested during a major operation in Limerick city targeting the activities of an Organised Crime Group has appeared in court, gardai have confirmed.
They say the suspect, aged in his 30s, was arrested last Wednesday as part of ongoing investigations targeting the group which is suspected of being involved in business and residential burglaries as well as the theft of high value vehicles across the Mid-West.
"The arrest was made in the course of an intelligence-led operation by gardai from the Clare/Tipperary Division, with support from Regional Support Units and the Garda Air Support Unit," said a garda spokesperson.
Following his arrest, the man was detained under Section 50 of the Criminal Justice Act 2007 at a garda station in the Southern Region.
According to gardai, the man was remanded in custody to appear before Ennis District Court on Wednesday, April 16.
Another person is also before the courts charged in connection with the same investigation.
