GARDAÍ in Limerick have warned of “a rise in ticket frauds” ahead of festivals and concerts this summer season.
Issuing advice, Sergeant Aoife Bannon from community policing at Henry St garda station said An Garda Síochána’s advice is “simple”, to “stick to trusted platforms”.
“If you are buying from someone privately, ask for proof of purchase and be sure to check the information on this thoroughly,” Sgt Bannon said.
“We definitely advise people to avoid paying with cash or bank transfers. Go with PayPal, a credit card, or something that offers protection.”

Additionally, gardaí are advising sellers to heed caution too, and “if something feels off, it probably is”.
“If you’re selling tickets, try to use the official resale options on trusted platforms, they’re the safest. If you’re advertising online, don’t post a full screenshot of the ticket or barcode, because scammers can grab that and resell it.
“It’s better to miss out than to get scammed or turn up at a gig with a fake ticket,” Sgt Bannon concluded.
