Gardai arrest man in early morning raid over pipe bomb explosions in Limerick

GARDAI have arrested a man in an early morning raid this Tuesday over pipe bomb explosions in the city.

A man in his early 30s received injuries to his arm, which were non-life threatening, in the explosions.

They occurred at two residential properties on Hyde Road, Limerick City, in the early hours of Saturday, July 15, 2023.

A garda spokesperson said: “Gardaí attached to the Crime Office at Roxboro Road garda station have arrested a male today, Tuesday, April 8, 2025, in connection with ongoing investigations into two incidents of explosions which occurred on Hyde Road, Limerick on July 15, 2023.”

The man, aged in his 20s, has been conveyed to a garda station in Limerick for questioning.

“He is currently being detained under the provisions of Section 30 of Offences Against the State Act 1939 as amended.

"Investigations are ongoing,” said the garda spokesperson.
