TWO BIKE theives spotted stealing from a homeowner's garden shed are being investigated by gardaí in Limerick.
On Sunday, March 30, after 3:15am, a man in his 50s was woken by noise coming from the side gate of his house in Ennis Road area of Limerick city.
He observed two men leaving his property. This comes after a string of garden shed burglaries were reported in Kilmallock on the night of March 26 to 27.
“Upon inspection, he discovered that his shed door was open and that his two bikes had been stolen from his garden shed,” said Sergeant Michelle O’Halloran, crime prevention officer, Henry St garda station.
“The stolen bikes are described as a Navy Giant racing bike and a black Giant standard bike.”
Anyone who may have seen two suspicious males in the Ennis Road area at that time is asked to contact gardaí at Mayorstone on 061 456 980.

“When securing your bike, always use a high-quality U lock to secure the frame to a stationary object” said Sgt O’Halloran.
“For added security, use a coil, cable lock or chain to secure the wheels. Never leave your bike unattended, even for a brief moment, and make sure it is properly secured in your garden shed or any other locations such as lobby or hallway of a building.”
The quality of your lock should reflect the value of your bike. Expect to pay between 10% and 20% of the bike’s value for a good lock. For expensive bikes, insurance is recommended.
“You can download An Garda Síochána Property App and also a reminder of An Garda Síochána Property Marking Event which is taking place on April 29, from 12pm on Thomas Street, Limerick, which is a great opportunity to have your property, including bicycles marked,” concluded Sgt O'Halloran.
