String of burglaries at Limerick business premises investigated by gardaí

A NUMBER of break-ins at businesses across Limerick city are being investigated by gardaí.

Criminals have reportedly been targeting businesses for their cash floats, with gardaí at Henry St now advising business owners to lock them in a safe or take them off-site overnight.

“Gardai understand that there is less cash circulating so criminals will go where they know they will find it and cash floats in tills are the current target,” said Sergeant Michelle O’Halloran, crime prevention officer at Henry St garda station.

“In a recent burglary, the safe was not secured and was removed from the premises during the course of the burglary,” she said.

Investigating gardaí are urging caution as a string of burglaries have been reported, with Sgt O’Halloran concluding by saying: “I wish to remind all business to ensure to have an intruder alarm fitted and set the alarm when closing”.
