GARDAÍ are investigating a burglary where the thief "ransacked" a house in Limerick for handbags in the mid-morning/afternoon.
On Friday, January 10, a burglar entered a house in the Annacotty area via the front door and ransacked the house during the hours of 10am and 3:30pm. They took a number of handbags.
Crime prevention officer, Sergeant Michelle O’Halloran of Henry St said there is a “trend” gardaí have picked up on recently with home burglaries, and continue to urge homeowners to up their home security measures.
“The burglars gained entry to the house by damaging the lock on the front door and this is a trend we are noticing is on the rise currently,” she said.

“Again, we do advise everyone to ensure they have sufficient security measures in their home, such as ensuring they have high-quality locks on doors and windows.
“In addition to this, a burglar alarm is always a great tool, as burglars will often flee once an alarm has been sounded.”
Gardaí are appealing to anyone who may have information on a person acting suspiciously in the Annacotty area on Friday to contact Castleconnell Garda Station on 061 377105.
