A MAN who was being questioned by gardai following a fatal hit and run incident in Limerick city earlier this week has been charged and is to be brought before the courts.
The man, aged in his 30s, was arrested on Tuesday evening - hours after the road collision which happened on the Ennis Road, between Sarsfield Bridge and Union Cross.
The pedestrian who died from his injuries has been named locally as James Forde, who lived in the Clareview area of the city.
Investigating gardai have confirmed that a maroon-coloured Ford Focus car which did not remain at the scene of the incident has since been recovered and that investigations are ongoing.
In an update, issued this Wednesday night, they confirmed the man who was arrested has now been charged.
"The man, aged in his 30s, arrested as part of the investigation into the fatal hit-and-run road traffic collision in Limerick city on Tuesday, November 26 2024, has been charged. He is due to appear before Limerick District Court tomorrow morning, Thursday, November 28, 2024," read a brief statement confirming the development.

Gardaí are continuing to appeal for any witnesses to come forward and any road users who were travelling in the area at the time of the collision and who may have camera footage, including dash cam footage, are asked to make the footage available to gardai.
