Three hot chicken fillet rolls were stolen
A YOUNG man who stole three hot chicken fillet rolls, valued at €18, will end up paying €100 if he wants to avoid a conviction.
Daniel Braddish, aged 19, of Glen Grove, Kilmallock pleaded guilty to one count of theft at the local district court on Friday.
Inspector Barry Manton, prosecuting, said Mr Braddish entered the Spar on Lord Edward Street, Kilmallock at 10.02am on July 30, 2024.
“He ordered three rolls from the deli which cost €18,” he outlined.
“He made no attempt to pay for them and left the shop,” said Insp Manton, who added that Mr Braddish has no previous convictions.
Ted McCarthy, solicitor for Mr Braddish, said it was a silly and stupid thing to do.
“The cost of the hot chicken roll, which was €18, has been paid back. He is unemployed and lives at home.
“His father, who is here with him in court, is actively searching for work for him to keep him busy,” said Mr McCarthy, who added that Mr Braddish apologises for stealing the hot chicken fillet rolls.

Judge Fiona Brennan said as it was his first offence she would strike the matter out if Mr Braddish made a contribution to the court poor box.
The judge asked Insp Manton to select a charity and he chose the Little Blue Heroes.
Judge Brennan said if Mr Braddish pays €100 to the charity by December 17 she will strike the matter out.
If the sum of money is not paid he will be convicted of theft and fined €300, said the judge.
