THE DOORS to the Children’s Grief Centre will open to the public this month for a pre-loved clothing sale.

This is the centre’s first year hosting the event, which will fund their incredible work for the children of Limerick and beyond experiencing loss.

The event will take place at the charity’s premises in the John Henry Newman Campus in Mary Immaculate College, O’Connell Avenue, on Saturday, March 29 from 10-3pm.

Founded in 2009 by Sister Helen Culhane, a qualified social worker and psychotherapist, the Children’s Grief Centre works with children and young people who are experiencing loss.

Helen recognised that there was a lack of services and support for children and young people who were affected by the death of a loved one as well as an increasing need for support of those suffering loss due to separation or divorce.

Helen’s vision was that the Centre would provide children and young people with a listening ear.

The Centre’s team of trained, full time support workers and part-time volunteer support workers, serves Limerick among other counties in the Mid-West region.

Organiser Carol Fitz-Gough, Fundraising & Events Coordinator and ambassador Olive Foley have been amazed at the amount of incredible ladies clothing donated in support of this event, and speaking on the event said; "We are excited to welcome the public to our first pre-loved clothing sale, a day dedicated to shopping and raising awareness about the vital work we do at the Children's Grief Centre. All proceeds from this event will directly support the hundreds of children and families who rely on our services each year."

CEO Mairead O’Keeffe explained, “As demand for the centre is ever-increasing, fundraising events are vital in supporting our work with bereaved children and their families.”

Admission is free with tea, coffee, and light refreshments complimentary on the day as well as spot prizes to be won throughout the course of the event.
