LIMERICK woman Stephanie Ryan took home the coveted Community Award at Bus Éireann's  National annual GEM (‘Go the Extra Mile’) Awards, demonstrating the values core to Bus Éireann's success.

The awards recognise excellent customer service, community impact, performance and forward-thinking.

Awards were issued in a number of different categories including Apprentice of the Year, Depot of the Year, Craftworker of the Year and several other categories including driver and community awards.

In April this year Limerick’s city bus service, operated by Bus Éireann, became Ireland’s first fully electric regional city bus service, as part of a €54 million investment by the National Transport Authority (NTA). As part of the investment, a total of 55 new double decker battery-electric buses, will service more than 2.1 million emission-free kilometres across Limerick city service annually.
