Mayor of Limerick, John Moran says The Economic and Social Intervention Fund is an important source of funding

LIMERICK City and County Council is now inviting applications for funding under the Economic and Social Intervention Fund 2025.

The Economic and Social Intervention Fund (ESIF) is a critical instrument to help address disadvantage in Limerick City. The overall vision of the Limerick Regeneration Programme is to create “safe and sustainable communities of opportunity where people of all ages enjoy a good quality of life, a decent home and a sense of pride about their place.”

The overarching aim of the Economic and Social Intervention Fund is to improve access to opportunities for residents of the Regeneration areas and the surrounding communities, as well as enhancing service provision across the statutory and voluntary/community sector.

As such, the fund invests in projects that share these aims, whether the projects are overseen by voluntary and community organisations or other public agencies.

Applications are now sought under the following themes: Community, Education and Learning, Employability and Work, Families and Youth at Risk and Health, Wellbeing and Ageing Well.

All applicants must complete the official online Application Form.  The form is now available here.

Mayor of Limerick, John Moran commented:

“The Economic and Social Intervention Fund is an important source of funding for our efforts to uplift and empower our communities. Having visited all the regeneration areas in recent months, I have witnessed first-hand the transformative impact of projects funded through previous rounds of ESIF funding. The 2025 ESIF fund is an opportunity to build upon the investment of previous years, both in terms of infrastructure and services for the people of Limerick.”

Joe Delaney, Director of Service, Regeneration, Sports and Recreation at Limerick City and County Council added:

“The Council are delighted to announce this funding opportunity for groups working with disadvantaged groups in Limerick City. ESIF funding has made a significant impact on the lives of people living in Limerick’s regeneration areas since its inception, and we’re looking forward to continuing this funding support in 2025. We’re inviting applications that improve service provision under the specific themes of this year’s funding call, and the Council’s Regeneration Team welcome any queries groups may have regarding the 2025 application process.”

The closing date for the submission of completed applications is Monday, January 13, 2025 at 12pm.
