PLAYERS and fans alike partied on the streets of Doon on Sunday night, following the team's first ever Limerick senior hurling championship title.

Doon celebrated this historic first following their action-packed 0-16 to 2-9 final victory over Na Piarsaigh at the TUS Gaelic Grounds on Sunday evening.

The sounds and sights of fireworks could be spotted interspersed between cheers, dancing, a few tears, and a good old sing-song, as hundreds flooded the main street of the village until the early hours of the morning.

The crowds were singing along to The Pogues' Dirty Old Town, On the Road Again, The Saw Doctors' N17,with many more classics on their impromptu setlist.

Young, and not so young, could be seen dancing the night away, with some celebrating from high atop each other's shoulders.

Earlier on in the night-to-remember, fans packed into local watering holes with the lyrics of Wild Rover, The Cranberries' Dreams and Oasis' Wonderwall filtering through the doors to the streets outside, as the crowds themselves soon did.

This was Doon's third appearance in the final of the Bon Secours Limerick senior hurling championship in the past seven years, and their first time in history lifting the John Daly Cup.

The new Limerick champions Doon won't have much time to rest, as they face a quick return to action, taking on Waterford's Ballygunner in a Munster senior club quarter-final next Sunday, November 3, at the TUS Gaelic Grounds.
