FIVE Limerick sides will be in Energia All-Ireland League play-off action this weekend as the season reaches its business end, following the conclusion of regular season action earlier this month.

Garryowen, Shannon, UL Bohemian, Thomond and Old Crescent are still competing in AIL promotion/relegation action.

In the Division 1A play-offs, Garryowen will play UCD for a chance at gaining promotion to the country's premier rugby men's division.

The 'Light Blues' finished fourth in the 1B table, boasting a record of nine wins, eight losses and one draw, which saw them finish the season on 52 points.

Their fourth place finish grants them a play-off tie against UCD, who finished in ninth position in Division 1A this season.

The Dublin college finished the season on 32 points, boasting a record of eight wins and nine losses after 18 rounds of action.
The pair are due to lock horns this Saturday at the UCD Bowl in the capital.

In Division 1B play-off action, Shannon will face off against Tyrone's Dungannon. The Limerick-based side finished the regular season second position of the 2A table on 59 points boasting a record of 12 wins and six losses after 18 rounds of fixtures.

They will face a Dungannon side who finished just four points behind them in third position. The Tyrone men finished the regular season with a record of 11 wins, six loses and one draw, which was enough to grant them third position in the 2A table, one point clear of fourth placed Galway Corinthians.

The sides will clash at the Thomond Park back pitch this Saturday.

In Division 2A play-off action, Old Crescent will host Sligo with the hopes of retaining their 2A status.

The Limerick side finished the regular season in ninth position on 29 points, boasting a record of five wins and 13 losses after 18 rounds of AIL action.

They face a Sligo team who finished the regular season in fourth position of the Division 2B table.

The Connacht side concluded their season on 54 points with a record of ten wins and eight losses after 18 games. The pair will meet on Saturday at Takumi Park.

Also, in the Division 2A play-off action are UL Bohemian. 'Bohs' enjoyed a positive 2B campaign, finishing the regular season in second position on 68 points boasting a record of 13 wins and five losses.

The Limerick side were beaten to top spot by high-flying Galwegians who topped the division in superb fashion, boasting an impressive record of 16 wins and just two losses to gain automatic promotion to Division 2A next season.

UL Bohemian's reward for their second place finish is a tie with Clogher Valley on Saturday at the University of Limerick's North Campus.

Clogher Valley finished the regular season just behind 'Bohs' on 66 points in third position with an identical record of thirteen wins and five losses.

In Division 2C play-off action, Thomond will lock horns with Bective Rangers on Saturday at Energia Park.

The Limerick side concluded their 2C season in third position on 59 points and face a Bective side who finished one position above them on 67 points.

The sides will meet for the final time this season in the Division 2C semi-final this Saturday.
