ALL SIX Limerick senior rugby clubs suffered defeat in Saturday's round four of the Energia All Ireland League.
Young Munster were the only Limerick side with home advantage and went closest to securing victory.
Indeed late scores saw both Young Munster and Garryowen lose in Division 1A.
Young Munster lost at home to Ballynahinch 26-25. Munster trailed 14-10 at half time and looked on course to take the spoils with an impressive second half performance. Tony Butler, Adam McBurney and Stephen McLoughlin scored tries for the Limerick side and Julian Leszczynski kicked two conversions and two penalties.
A late rally by St Mary’s College saw them snatch a 25-22 win against Garryowen at Templeville Road. Jack Daly, Colm Quilligan and Gordon Wood scored tries for Garryowen, Dylan Hicks kicked a conversion, and a penalty and Kelvin Langan also added a conversion.
UCC have moved into second place in Division 1B, two points behind leaders Old Belvedere, after their 42-7 win over Shannon at the Mardyke. The students who led 14-0 at half time had two tries from Adam Wrona, and one each by Sam O’Sullivan, Rory Shaughnessy, David Cogan, and Sean Condon. Daniel Squires converted all six tries.
Evin Crowe replied with a try for Shannon, which John O’Sullivan converted.
A last minute penalty ended Nenagh Ormond’s unbeaten run in Division 1B, after they lost at home to leaders Old Belvedere 32-31. William Coffey, Ben Pope and Kevin O’Flaherty scored tries for Nenagh, who were also awarded a penalty try. Conor McMahon kicked three conversions and a penalty.
In Division 2A, Old Crescent lost 43-21 away to the leaders Galway Corinthians. Timmy Duggan, John Lyons and Jamie Duggan were the Crescent try scorers and Ronan McKenna converted all three.
UL Bohemian slipped out of the promotion places in Division 2B after they lost 44-12 away to Clogher Valley. Matty Sheahan and Kilian Dineen were the Bohs try scorers and Oisin Fagan added a conversion.
In Division 2C Bruff are now in ninth place after their 66-0 away defeat at Ballyclare.
In the Women’s AIL UL Bohemian maintained their challenge with a 31-5 away win at Old Belvedere. Chisom Ugwueru scored two of Boh’s five tries with Chloe Pearse, Muirne Wall, and Éabha Nic Dhonnacha getting the others. Kate Flannery kicked two conversions and Nic Dhonnacha one.
