FOUR Limerick based players have been named in Sean Skehan's 37-man Ireland Club XV training squad that will head to Portugal in March.

The Irish side will play a game against Portugal 'A' in Lisbon and Limerick will be well represented on the trip with Young Munster trio of Alan Kennedy, Bailey Faloon, David Begley and Garryowen captain Bryan Fitzgerald also included.

Current Terenure and former Shannon player Luke Clohessy has also gotten the nod. Daniel Hurley, who played schools rugby with Crescent Comp and is now with Cork Con, former Young Munster winger Conor Hayes, and ex Glenstal Abbey schools player Aran Egan also make the squad.

Thirteen clubs in total are represented in the club squad that will come together three times in the coming months at the IRFU High Performance Centre, before the fixture on March 8.

Skehan has a wealth of knowledge and is currently coaching Terenure in the AIL, having previously worked with Garryowen as their senior coach. He also worked with the Munster U19s and Glenstal Abbey's Senior Cup team and is current head coach with the Connacht U18s.

"I’m excited to get working with this group of players and to get the preparations underway with this squad," Skehan told the IRFUs official website. "They’re an ambitious and talented group and its exciting to see what they can do.”

"We have a mix of experience and young players in the side, and a lot of these guys will be playing in a club international for the first time so it’s massively exciting for them. We are looking forward to getting our training camps underway ahead of the trip to Portugal.”

Garryowen's John Staunton is part of the coaching team with responsibility for the scrum.
