Police in the United States are investigating the death of a young Carlow woman, found at Montauk Yacht Club in America in the early hours of the morning.
American police have said that several attempts were made to resuscitate Martha Nolan-O’Slatarra (33) by good samaritans before first responders arrived on the scene.
A man at the boat club called the East Hampton Town police at 12am - approximately 5am Irish time - to report that Martha was unconscious.
Martha Nolan-O’Slatarra worked as a fashion designer who founded the clothes brand East x East. She studied at UCD and helped establish the Irish Wheelchair Association’s online presence as part of a college project.
She recently did an interview with the Irish Independent about her success as an entrepreneur and a fashion designer.
At the time of the incident, Martha was living in Manhattan.

The Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade commented that they are aware of the case and that they are in the process of providing consular assistance.
The spokesperson added: “As with all consular cases, the department does not comment on the details of individual cases”.
Homicide squad detectives are investigating the matter and are seeking information from the public on the incident.
The American Suffolk County Police said: “The preliminary investigation and exam were inconclusive regarding the cause of death, which will be determined by an autopsy conducted by the Suffolk County Medical Examiner’s Office.”
