THE Limerick senior camogie team face Kilkenny in the opening round of the All-Ireland camogie championship this Saturday in Mick Neville Park, Rathkeale at 4pm.

Limerick have competed well in the National league and produced a strong performance against Waterford in the Munster Championship.

It's a game the players and management are very much looking forward too according to Limerick senior camogie player Caoimhe Costello. “It's gearing up now to be an exciting few weeks. Training has gone well and we've played a few challenges,” ace attacker Costello told Leader Sport.

Kilkenny are Limerick's opponents this weekend and ‘the Cats’ are coming into this tie on the back of winning the Leinster championship last weekend against Dublin. Costello believes Limerick can take a scalp this weekend, however.

“You can't go into games thinking that you're going to be up against it or you don't have a chance. On any given day in Limerick, we've 20 to 25 girls who can compete with the best in the country. and we've some very skillful players. If we show up on the day and come with the right attitude, we can definitely push Kilkenny all the way and potentially take a win.”

The highly-rated Costello is the player who takes frees for Limerick, but she doesn't feel the pressure.
“I practice them enough. I see it as my job. I know on any given day if it's not working out for me, there's someone that can step up. I just see it as a role in the team.”
