New job for member of Limerick's Liam MacCarthy Cup winning hurling panel

From keeping shots out to keeping cans out of landfill: Quaid’s new role
A MEMBER of Limerick’s victorious All-Ireland senior hurling panel has taken on a new job.
Having spent much of his career preventing things from entering the net, goalkeeper Nickie Quaid has now taken on a job helping stop items entering landfill.
The Effin goalkeeper took to LinkedIn to share news of his new role.
It’s a major transfer from his job as a teacher at Patrickswell National School to join Re-Turn, the Irish Deposit Return Scheme as its regional redemption lead for Limerick.

“I’ll be working to optimise our regional operations, enhance the return experience, and maximise our environmental impact across the county,” the sports star wrote.
“If you are a retailer, business owner, school, community group, charity or club, big or small, and want to discuss ways you can support the scheme, optimize your current setup, or collaborate, please reach out. I’m really looking forward to working with everyone to help lift Limericks redemption rates.”
Nickie has been an ever-present on Limerick’s senior hurling panel since their breakthrough win in 2018 and has a number of All-Star nominations to boot.
His vital save against Cork in the All-Ireland senior hurling semi-final of 2018, played a huge part in Limerick reaching the decider that year.
The moment has been immortalised through a mural.
