Former Limerick Chamber president takes up role on board of Shannon Airport Group

A FORMER president of Limerick Chamber has been appointed to the board of the Shannon Airport Group.

Ken Johnson, a former senior partner with financial firm PwC in Limerick, will serve an initial five-year term.

He is also currently a director and chair of the audit and risk Committee at Milford Care Centre and an external member of the audit and risk Committee at the iCare Housing association in Dublin.

His appointment, which was made by Transport Minister Darragh O’Brien, has been welcomed by the chairperson of the Shannon Airport Group, Conal Henry.

“Ken Johnson is a very welcome addition to our board. His extensive experience in governance, risk, and leadership development will be invaluable as we continue to grow and evolve as a group. Ken’s appointment further strengthens the depth of expertise on our board, and I look forward to working with him during this exciting phase for The Shannon Airport Group and the wider region.”

As well as owning and operating Shannon Airport, the Shannon group also owns a large property portfolio around the terminal.

On top of this, it operates the Shannon Free Zone, which is home to more than 300 local companies.

Mr Johnson worked with PwC where he spent more than 23 years advising senior leadership teams nationally and internationally across a range of sectors.

He has extensive expertise in audit, accounting, risk management, and corporate governance.

In addition to this, he led the financial firm’s Mid-West practice.

He is also an executive coach, supporting senior leaders and boards in enhancing performance and effectiveness.

Mr Johnson has served on the PwC oversight committee and, as well as being president of Limerick Chamber, he served on its board.

A fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants, he holds a Bachelor of Commerce degree from University of Galway and a professional diploma in business and executive coaching from Smurfit Business School.

He is accredited at senior practitioner level with the European Mentoring and Coaching Council.
