New chapter as Limerick man appointed to national board of directors

THE Irish Writers Centre has welcomed seven new members to its Board of Directors, including a proud Limerick man. 

The new addition to the board is Brian McEnery, from Ballycummin, Patrickswell. Brian is Managing Partner at BDO Ireland and brings extensive leadership experience to the Centre at a time of strategic growth. 

In addition, Brian has leadership experience in corporate finance, restructuring, and healthcare as well as having held a number of key positions including Worldwide President of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA), Chair of HIQA and Board Member & Chair of the Audit Committee of NAMA.

Brian’s appointment reflects a deepening commitment to all-island representation and leadership within the Irish Writers Centre, and comes at a pivotal moment as the Centre accelerates its ambition to expand and deepen support for writers across the country. 

These appointments come as the Irish Writers Centre enters a next chapter under new CEO Mags McLoughlin. Their combined experience spans the literary, publishing, cultural, financial, legal, healthcare and sustainability sectors.

Welcoming the new Board members, Irish Writers Centre Chair Breda Brown said: "We’re delighted to welcome this exceptional group to the Irish Writers Centre Board. They each bring a unique perspective, and their combined expertise will help shape the next chapter of our work supporting writers across Ireland. These appointments represent a time of exciting change and bold ambition for the organisation – and I’m looking forward to what lies ahead."
