Limerick's summer festivals allocated funding under cultural scheme

Fine Gael TD and local Minister, Patrick O’Donovan announced the funding

JUST under €20,000 in funding has been announced for four separate summer festivals taking place in Limerick this year.

The successful applicants include ACM Community Development Society Limited “Music & Musings” Festival, Dochas Midwest Autism Support Summer Festival, Newcastle West Community Council Music Trail Festival, and The Limerick Opera Festival.

Fine Gael TD and local Minister, Patrick O’Donovan announced the funding, saying; “I made a funding allocation of €293,252 for 64 events to support local festivals and summer schools taking place around Ireland in 2025. The allocation was made under the Small Scale Local Festivals and Summer Schools Scheme.”

“The scheme is designed to assist local cultural events which may not be eligible for funding for larger scale events which can be supported by Fáilte Ireland, the Arts Council and similar bodies.

“This is an important acknowledgement of the richness that culture and the arts brings to all our lives, along with the opportunity to come together as a community to socialise and share traditions.

“I want to pay tribute to the volunteers, organisers and artists who worked throughout the winter months to prepare for this year’s festival, which provides such entertainment and brings joy to so many every year. We rely on their talent, generosity and dedication to deliver this event and appreciate their hard work.”
