SIXTY new jobs have been created in Limerick after care provider Dovida unveiled fresh investment plans.
Dovida, which is formerly known as Home Instead Senior Care, made the announcement as part of a nationwide recruitment drive for 1,500 caregivers.
Under its predecessor brand, Dovida has been providing care to adults in Ireland since 2005.
The roles on offer will be a mix of full-and-part time positions.
Minister of State for Older People and Housing and local TD Kieran O’Donnell was on hand to announce the new jobs at Dovida’s Limerick offices at Fairgreen, Ballysimon Road in the city.

He was joined by Limerick’s very own caregiver of the year Mary Kenihan.
The Fine Gael TD said: “I am delighted to mark the official launch of Dovida here in Limerick. I wish to congratulate the great team of staff and caregivers at Dovida, including Brian O’Sullivan, general manager, and Michael Wright, director of growth, on this special occasion and an exciting new chapter for Dovida, including their expansion plans with the creation of 60 new jobs in Limerick, which is very welcome.”
Mr O’Donnell also paid tribute to caregivers for work they do every day.
“Thanks to their hard work and commitment, many of our older people here in Limerick are supported and empowered to continue to live independently in their homes and communities,” he added.
Mr O’Sullivan said: We are excited about welcoming more caregivers like Mary to our team. They will help us meet the growing need for home care services in Limerick and make it possible for more people to receive the support they need to live comfortably and independently at home.”
He pledged that caregivers joining Dovida’s team can expect training, local support, as well as opportunities to grow professionally.
Dovida currently provides home care services to 8,000 people across Ireland.
Historically, the majority of the organisation’s client base consisted of people in the over-65 age group.
But the firm’s staff now cares for clients of all ages, with 10 per cent under 65, while children under 18 make up one per cent of people cared for.
Staff provide services to support people living with an acquired brain injury, Parkinson’s Disease, Multiple Sclerosis, and Motor
Neurone disease, as well as helping children and young adults with additional needs.
