A RESEARCH institute based in Castletroy has launched a new technology facility.
Digital Manufacturing Ireland (DMI), an industry-led group which supports Irish manufacturers to access new technologies, is inaugurating what is known as the Vision Accelerator.
It is expected to help support manufacturers in developing, understanding, and deploying machine vision technologies in the manufacturing sector.
Work on the new facility has begun and is scheduled to be completed this summer.

The product will be equipped with all the latest advancements in machine vision from innovators and global technology leaders.
Staffed by a team of experts, it will offer companies the tools and resources to overcome the challenges of adopting new and changing technologies in an open, collaborative environment.
For early-stage projects, restricted areas will be available for companies to work in a private environment while maintaining access to expertise and equipment.
The money for the Vision Accelerator is being provided thanks to a significant investment from Government through IDA Ireland.
Tommy Brennan, cognitive manufacturing manager at DMI, said: “This initiative marks a significant step forward in Ireland’s digital manufacturing journey.”
