OWNERS of a city centre coffee bar have ground out a Tidy Towns award for the condition in which they keep their premises in O'Connell Street.
Guji Coffee Bar, which is located in the former Timberland unit on Limerick's main thoroughfare has won the Limerick City Tidy Towns award for September and October.
Maura O'Neill of the Tidy Towns group said: "I think we were all saddened to see the former Timberland shop that used to be in this prominent corner unit close a couple of years ago, given its central location in the heart of the city, but we are delighted that it was taken over by Guji coffee bar who have given it a new lease of life with their new boutique coffee shop."

She praised the firm's "striking bubble-gum pink signature branding and signage" as well as its "spotlessly clean windows and welcoming plants at the entrance".
"It is a stylish and welcome addition to the newly developed O’Connell Street”," added Maura.
The firm is owned by Alan Andrews, and opened in July 2023 following the opening of a coffee bar in Cork five years ago.
As well as coffee, snacks and sweet treats, customers can also buy coffee beans and coffee makers for home use.
Guji also recently began offering an extended menu including additional food options like açai bowls and bacon butties.
The coffee bar has become Limerick City Tidy Town’s fifth winner for 2024 and will be in with a chance to be the overall winner for 2024 at next year’s annual event.
They will be joined in the final by the Adapt Shop at Parnell Street, Thompson's Funeral Home, The Spitjack, Bedford Row and Verizon.
If you wish to join Limerick City Tidy Towns for their clean-ups of the city, they meet every Sunday morning at 11am at the corner of Thomas Street and O’Connell Street, and on Wednesday evenings at 6pm outside the White House during summer months.
