AN EMPLOYEE of Plassey engineering firm H&MV has received a prize at the annual Business and Finance ESG awards.

Kate Kerrane was named as a future leader in the field of environmental, social and governance excellence, or ESG.

She joined a number of other winners at the awards ceremony which took place in Dublin.

Sponsored by Grant Thornton, the Business and Finance ESG Awards celebrate the accomplishments of businesses committed to environmental, social and governance excellence.

Congratulating all the winners, Grant Thornton Ireland partner and head of consulting Amanda Ward said: "The European Environment Agency most recent climate risk assessment highlights the major challenges we face as a society as a result of climate change. Today’s winners embody the leadership and innovation required in order to deliver a better, greener tomorrow alongside a just transition. These champions of sustainability, highlight how the challenges we currently face can also be seen as an opportunity and will serve as an inspiration for others to follow in their footsteps."

Judge Lisa-Nicole Dunne, managing director, Mantra Strategy said of the entries: "This year, we saw increasing numbers and standards across the award categories. It is encouraging to see the level of innovation being embraced by businesses of all sizes in how they govern, lead, drive change across a range of activities, initiatives, and practices."

H&MV's success comes hot on the heels of another win.

The firm took home a Horizon award from Amazon at a ceremony in Dublin.

The company, which last year pledged to create 700 new jobs at its headquarters in the Plassey Business Park, was recognised for its design and construction solutions across data centres, wind farms and solar and battery projects.
