Emergency services deployed during river rescue operation in Limerick

Volunteer crews from Limerick Marine Search and Rescue were deployed

A RESCUE operation was launched in Limerick city overnight after emergency services received reports of a person threatening to enter the river Shannon.

The alarm was raised at around 1.15am this Monday after the person was observed at Sarsfield Bridge.

Volunteer crews from Limerick Marine Search and Rescue were alerted and two boats were launched and attended the area along with gardai from Henry Street.

Searches of the river were carried out for almost an hour but crews were stood down at 2.16am after the person was found safe on the shore by gardai.
