BREAKING: Limerick city and county firefighters tackle apartment blaze

FIREFIGHTERS from the city and county are battling an apartment blaze in Limerick this Sunday afternoon.

Three appliances from Mulgrave Street and two from Rathkeale responded to the fire in Steamboat Quay, Dock Road, Limerick city at 12.45pm.

The fire is understood to have been well-established upon arrival. It is not known, at this time, if there were any persons in the apartment.

It is not known how the blaze started. Thick plumes of black smoke can be seen across the city.

Firefighters remain at the scene. Gardai and paramedics from the National Ambulance Service are also in attendance.
