Emergency services attend fire in Limerick city centre

EMERGENCY services, including four units of Limerick Fire and Rescue, are attending the scene of a fire at Glentworth Street in Limerick city centre.

The alarm was raised shortly before 12 midday this Friday when thick black smoke was seen coming from the basement area of a premises at Glentworth Street.

Firemen have been seen entering the premises wearing breathing apparatus and a search of the upper floors is currently being conducted.

Gardai from nearby Henry Street station are also in attendance and the street has been sealed off and closed to traffic.

It's not known if there are any injuries or what caused the fire.
