LIMERICK Celtics Women's Head Coach Jordan Hehir says his side 'can't wait' for their Domino's Women's Division One play-ofF clash against Swords Thunder.

The Celtics face the Dublin-based side on Saturday evening at Crescent College in what is sure to be an entertaining tussle.

Hehir says this season has been 'incredible' for Women's basketball within the club.

"Between our U18s and our Women's side it's been incredible. To see the young girls being able to step up and to have the more experienced group on the Women's team, to have their leadership and experience on the floor has been brilliant.

"It's been a year filled with injuries as well. I don't think we've had a full team to choose from yet which is a positive heading into the play-offs but maybe a little worrying at the same time.

"We finished 2025 with a loss to the Huskies so we went into the New Year losing the point differential to them but we've been on a great run which solidified that third spot for us."

Hehir admits this Women's Division One season has been competitive and states the importance of securing home advantage for the play-off quarter final.

"There's been nothing to separate the top sides in the division but even below that you have the likes of Swords, Kilkenny and Tolka who have all beaten sides above them in the table this season so that top eight is really competitive which is why getting home advantage is so important, nothing is promised in this league.

The Celtic's Head Coach says his side 'can't wait' for their upcoming play-of clash with Swords Thunder on Saturday night but says he is wary of the threat their Dublin opposition will pose, having lost to them last December.

"The girls can't wait. Having the international break in the last weekend of the season isn't desirable for us because you lose that continuity and that familiarity of defence and everything like that but the girls are training hard so I can't complain about that.

"They beat us at home before Christmas and we beat them away a couple of weeks ago so its one a piece. It's about fine tuning everything and getting that buzz in the camp up so that they play as hard as they can.

"It's been a great season for Limerick basketball. Bringing home three National Cups as well as two School's Cups is excellent.

"Hopefully, all going well, three or four more cups could come back to Limerick but anything can happen in the play-offs so we're just focused on game by game and week by week," Hehir concluded.
