Limerick teams get vital victories in basketball National League

TWO out of the four Limerick National League basketball sides recorded victories over the weekend with Limerick Celtics men's side still unbeaten so far this season. 

Tony Hehir Celtics' side have gotten the 24/25 season off to a stormer as they recorded their seventh win of the season with a 94-52 victory over Titans BC. Dublin native Finn Hughes produced a huge performance slotting 27 points on the night with Aryon Jamal Williams scoring 25. They will look to keep their unbeaten run going as they host Moy Tolka Rovers this Sunday at Crescent College at 3:15pm.

Elsewhere in the men's National League Limerick Sport Eagles also recorded a vital 92-81 away win against SETU Waterford Vikings. Ignacio Folguerias produced an incredible display against Vikings recording 38 points, 11 rebounds and 8 assists. They will be on the road again this weekend as they face Team Northwest this Saturday at 6pm. 

Limerick Celtics women sit sixth in the National League table after coming short to iSecure Swords Thunder last weekend on a scoreline of 72-64. This is the Celtics' women team third loss so far this season with Stephanie McBride continuing to produce double figure scores with 22 points against Thunder. They will now face the long trip to Cavan this coming weekend as they take on McEvoy's Cavan Eagles on Saturday at 4pm. 

After a break in fixtures the Limerick Sport Huskies got their league campaign going again with a loss on the road to Cleveland Rockets, 75-68. Delia Moore, Scout Frame, Orlaith Woods and Sara Brazil were all in the double digits of scoring during the defeat. Huskies will have to dust themselves off quickly as they host Templeogue this Saturday at 5pm in St Munchins College.
